Arcade’s Green At Work Initiative is part of our commitment to operating in an environmentally and socially responsible manner.  Arcade has heard the call of its stakeholders, including its employees, customers and vendors, to do more to preserve and sustain the environment.  Sustainability has become a matter of distinguishing us as a good corporate citizen and a superior competitor. Arcade understands that being a responsible corporate citizen includes providing a safe and healthy working environment and avoiding adverse impact to the environment and the communities in which we do business. Our facilities have the groundwork in place through core practices of recycling, conservation and regulatory compliance.

Among the environmental initiatives we currently focus on include:

• Selection and verification processes that support conscientious sourcing of materials, while assuring qualitative and economic feasibility, including in the areas of paper and ink, through the primary use of inks formulated with bio-based, renewable resources, such as vegetable oils as opposed to petro based oils, in an effort to reduce the percentage of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and paper.
• A comprehensive focus on post-production recycling and  waste streams to reduce, recycle and reuse.
• “Green” awareness in office and production environments; mandating “green” alternatives in sourcing office supplies and equipment.
• Process improvements to drive energy conservation.

Arcade has “Green Teams” responsible for implementing and monitoring the Green At Work initiatives. Arcade self-assesses its efforts against the “Green At Work” principles.

These assessments provide valuable feedback about current recycling and conservation efforts and identify areas of excellence to be shared elsewhere in the platform and opportunities for further improvement .

Arcade Chattanooga and its affiliate, Dixon Direct, have obtained Candidate Pending Verification status with PIA/GATF’s Sustainable Green Printer Partnership, the first step in their effort to attain certification as a “Sustainable Green Printing Company”.

Q&A On Forestry Stewardship Council and Sustainable Forestry Initiative

What is Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC)?
FSC is a non-profit organization that encourages responsible management of forests. Companies who are FSC certified may use the “FSC” logo on FSC paper, which consists of a “checkmark and tree” with the initials “FSC” and the chain of custody certification number.

Strict chain of custody must be documented – from order and receipt of FSC paper, use on press, to the labeling of cartons of finished goods and shipping documents. Arcade Marketing- Chattanooga holds a FSC Chain of Custody Certificate and is named on the FSC website as an FSC certified printer.

What is Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI)?
SFI is a standard that promotes sustainable forest management, focusing on key environmental, social, and economic forest values.  These key indicators include examination of water quality, bio-diversity, harvesting, and regeneration.  Companies who are SFI Certified may use the “SFI” logo and the chain of custody certification number on SFI paper.  Arcade Marketing- Chattanooga holds an SFI Chain of Custody Certificate.

Does Arcade have FSC Paper Suppliers and is special testing needed?

Fragrance grade FSC paper is currently an option for all basis weights of gloss paper only. No additional submissions testing is generally required. The paper does not carry any post-consumer recycled content claim.

Are there additional costs and lead times for FSC or SFI paper?

There is generally a four- to six week lead time required from order to receipt. Additional costs may apply and suppliers may set a minimum order quantity.

What card stock for label carriers is FSC certified?

FSC certified 80# and 100# cover and text weight stocks are generally available.
